Kits
We have a selection of kits, all of which contain the instructions and materials to stitch a pretty design and in many cases turn it into something that is as useful as it is attractive. The Hardanger kits are finished as needle books, a bookmark, coaster or notebook; or decide on your own finishing method for the wintry Frosty Pine. Create your own cards for special occasions in goldwork (flowers & bee), silk & gold embroidery (quatrefoil flower), Shisha work (flower or tile), freestyle embroidery (house or garden), crewelwork (owl), appliqué embroidery (steaming mug), embellished embroidery (butterfly wreath) or tactile embroidery (Christmas wreath). The Christmas Wreath is also available as an ornament, as is our freestyle Hope Rainbow.

Hardanger
The Hardanger kits that include finishing materials come with extra detailed step-by-step instructions to give the novice stitcher a bit more guidance than the standard chart packs do. Three of the Hardanger kits (needle book, felt bookmark and coaster) are especially suitable for beginners, while the notebook and Frosty Pine kits offer something a little more challenging. And for experienced stitchers all the kits make lovely "in-between" projects!Needle book kit
A Hardanger course for beginners in one compact package. The three small projects in this kit teach you the basics of Hardanger embroidery: Kloster blocks (plain and modified), cutting, and the three most common bars (wrapped, woven, double wrapped) and fillings (square filet, dove's eye, spider's web). The designs are simple but elegant, easy enough for a first project (it comes with particularly detailed instructions) but at the same time attractive enough to appeal to the experienced stitcher as a quick stitch between larger designs.
This kit comes with everything you need to make your own matchbook needle cases, including two gold-plated needles to keep in one of them. Stitch all three needle books for yourself (they're great for keeping the needles for a single project in), give some of them as a present to a fellow stitcher – or give them the kit to make these themselves!
The kit contains three pieces of pre-scored patterned card, three pieces of coloured felt, six tapestry needles (3 x size 24 and 3 x size 22, one of each gold-plated), Hardanger fabric, perle cotton, charts, detailed instructions and stitch diagrams. It comes with bonus instructions for finishing the three designs as a bookmark with a decorative edge.

Felt bookmark kit
Discontinued – only a very limited number left
This kit contains everything you need to make your own felt bookmark. The Hardanger patch is similar to the needle book kits, but introduces a new filling stitch (the sunburst), a different backstitch motif, and the use of variegated thread that subtly echoes the colour of the bookmark. Like the needle book kits the felt bookmarks come with very detailed instructions. There is space on the finished bookmark to personalise it with stitched initials or a name if desired.
Each kit contains a hand-made wool felt bookmark with coordinating tassel (total length approx. 18cm), Hardanger fabric, perle cotton in white and a variegated shade to complement the bookmark, 2 needles, chart, detailed instructions and stitch diagrams.

Notebook kit
This kit contains everything you need to make your own stitcher's notebook. The Hardanger, which is one of the Snippets designs, is a bit more advanced than in the beginners' kits (for one thing it has an unusual cutting pattern), but like the other kits it comes with very detailed instructions. Stitch the notebook for yourself or as a gift for a fellow stitcher – or give them the kit to make it themselves!
Each kit contains a foam-covered notebook, Hardanger fabric, perle cotton in shades to complement the notebook, 2 needles, chart, detailed instructions and stitch diagrams.

Coaster kits
The same amount of cutting as in the needle book and bookmark kits, but surrounded by surface stitching to create a larger design. Splashes of colour in two borders and the picot woven bars combine with the traditional white of the Kloster blocks and satin stitch motifs to make an elegant coaster.
The single coaster kit contains 1 acrylic coaster with rounded corners, Hardanger fabric, iron-on interfacing, perle cotton in white and variegated colour, 2 needles, chart, stitch diagrams and extra detailed instructions. The Two-In-One coaster kit (which saves you £5.00) contains one set of instructions and one pair of needles plus a pair of coasters and twice the fabric and threads. Both kits come in a sturdy cardboard box.

Frosty Pine kit
Create your own sparkly, wintry pine tree, and finish it in any way you like – for example as an ornament, as here in the Stitchers' Gallery! Unlike the other Hardanger kits, this one is stitched on 25ct Lugana evenweave; finer and therefore perhaps a little more challenging, but definitely worth it for the finished look.
Each kit contains dark green Lugana fabric, Caron Watercolours and Wildflowers hand-dyed threads, pearlescent metallic thread, Mill Hill petite beads, stranded cotton, 3 needles, chart, detailed instructions and stitch diagrams.

No Place Like Home card kit
This kit contains everything you need to create a pretty little house using freestyle embroidery. This is a non-counted type of needlework, where the design is drawn on the fabric rather than worked from a chart. Instructions on how to transfer the design onto the fabric are included.
The thatched cottage on a grassy knoll with flowers is worked in a variety of stitches using soft wool-blend threads. And because you transfer the design yourself you can adjust the number of people and how they are dressed to your preferences. You could even add some pets! The finished project is made into a card which would be perfect for wishing someone good luck in their new home.

Hope Rainbow ornament kit
Rainbows are a joy to stitch and a joy to receive, which makes this little ornament doubly precious! Emerging from a fluffy cloud it is worked in a variety of stitches using speciality threads, and can be stitched with or without the word "hope" in sparkly silver.

Whoo Me? card kit
This kit contains everything you need to create a charming crewelwork owl. Crewelwork is a non-counted type of needlework, where the design is transferred onto the fabric rather than worked from a chart; the kit includes fabric with the design printed on it, but also has instructions on how to transfer a design onto fabric should you wish to stitch it again.
The kit, which comes in a recycleable cardboard box, contains pre-printed calico and backing fabric, 11 colours of crewel wool, a brown or yellow aperture card, envelope & wadding, needle, pattern for transferring, detailed instructions and stitch diagrams.

Shisha card kits
These kits contain everything you need to make a pretty card with Indian-style embroidery. This is a non-counted type of needlework, where the design is drawn onto the fabric rather than worked from a chart; the kits include fabric with the design printed on it, but also have instructions on how to transfer a design onto fabric should you wish to stitch it again (the Floral kit comes with a 12-petal flower printed on the fabric and a 16-petal variation in the booklet).
There are two designs to choose from, Floral (worked on blue fabric) and Tile (worked on pale yellow fabric). Each kit comes in a recycleable cardboard box and contains pre-printed cotton fabric and backing fabric; a small round mirror, beads and sequins; perle cotton, coton a broder and stranded cotton; an aperture card, envelope and wadding; 3 needles, design for transferring, detailed instructions and stitch diagrams.

The Mug That Cheers appliqué card kit
In this kit you'll find all you need to create a steaming mug of whatever hot beverage you fancy, using embroidered appliqué. In this technique you attach fabric shapes to a ground of a different fabric; these shapes can then be decorated with embroidery stitches and embellishments. It is a non-counted type of needlework, where the design is transferred onto the fabric rather than worked from a chart. Instructions on how to transfer the design onto the fabric are included.
The kit, which comes in a recycleable cardboard box, contains background fabric, patterned quilting fabric, DMC & Anchor perle & stranded cottons, floral gems, sequins, beads, organza and metallic ribbon, needles, an aperture card and padding as well as detailed instructions.

Goldwork and silk & gold embroidery
Goldwork Flowers & Bee card kit
Goldwork is a centuries-old needlework technique using various metal threads and fine hollow and coiled wires to create an embroidery that is richly glowing and sparkling with light. Often used in church and military embroidery, kings and queens were also partial to it, and it was used on the present Queen's coronation robe. This project isn't quite so ambitious, but it includes traditional techniques such as padding, couching, cutwork and chipwork to create a card with two pretty flowers and a bee – perfect for a special occasion. Or frame your goldwork for display if you can't bear to give it away!
The kit comes in a sturdy, recycleable cardboard box and contains ivory cotton fabric and backing fabric; gold, silver, copper & coloured metal threads and wires; spangles; beads; sewing & metallic threads; felt for padding; beeswax; 3 needles; an aperture card, envelope & wadding; pattern for transferring; and a booklet containing detailed instructions and stitch diagrams.
