Noah's Celebration Ark – 6.4cm x 6.4cm / 8.4cm x 8.4cm

It won't surprise you to learn that this festive boat was first designed to celebrate the birth of a baby called Noah – but it's a versatile craft (pun very much intended), and the ark's message of hope, faithfulness and help in challenging times is suitable for welcoming babies of any name, or celebrating a child's birthday. The entire design is stitched in just a handful of basic stitches in standard stranded cottons (with an optional fluffy edge to the cloud) and although colours are suggested it's easy to switch to a pastel rainbow or a pink elephant if you wish!

The cloud is another area for you to get creative with: use gel pens, fabric markers or fine drawing pens to write something personal in it, such as the baby's name, the toddler's age, or a short message; or use line stitches to embroider it. And if you prefer the message to be written inside the card instead of on the fabric, just add a few curvaceous lines of stitching inside the cloud to give it some body.
